What gets you through the day?

Listen: we ALL have something that takes the edge off the drudgery of every day life.  For some of you, it can be a physical activity, for others of you, your vice is a thing or an object

Leather is my vice!

Here is the “duh!” part of the equation.  Why else would I have founded Scarlet Moderne (aren’t the initials catchy?) unless I had a “thing” for leather?

 Those of us who wear leather clothing all know about how it makes you feel when you wear it.  People feel many things: bold, sexy, confident, tough, and yes, classy.  Why do YOU wear leather?

Here’s the rub: I hate to shop!

Yes.  I hate to shop.  There, I said it.  I know this statement renders me unfit for the stereotypical female population, but its needs to be said.  I am not the person you call to canvas the mall on a Saturday.  No, call someone else for that.  Frankly, I find shopping to be dull.  While I do not suffer from a short attention span, I do suffer from being able to give shopping my full attention for long moments.

 I also hate to shop because I am not a conventional size.  I wear the biggest sizes in traditional clothing stores, and the smallest sizes in the “Big Girl” stores.  So, you can imagine the hassle that shopping for “traditional” clothes has become.  Try being my size and indulging in a leather fetish (Oops, I mean “vice”!)

 Leather is a whole other story.  I have noticed that many leather garments run small.  While I may wear a size 14 pants, that same size 14 in leather pants now fits me as if I tried to squeeze in to a size 6!  Also, styles drive me crazy because there is no way I am squeezing THIS body into the current “low rise” style pant that hopefully is getting close to it’s “sell by” date.
